ABOUT RISA:

RISA is the powerhouse of student organizations at Texas Tech striving to become the most disruptive and innovative student organization in the United States.

 

Through its innovative corporate-like organization structure, RISA provides unique resume-boosting opportunities in operational and projects committees, training in information/cyber security, certification study groups, and other exclusive career development events.

RISA prides in its 230+ members'​ diverse academic backgrounds, representing 44 areas of study in all 3 degree programs (Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral) throughout the university. From Computer Engineering to Agricultural Economics students, RISA provides both technical and non-technical opportunities to all 40,000 students of Texas Tech including both STEM and non-STEM undergraduate and graduate students.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

RISA is currently looking for a program coordinator who will be overseeing a new peer-to-peer mentorship program launching in Fall 2018. Details of the specific program will be discussed during the interview:

  • Build a mentorship program and system to match upper-class members with new incoming students (freshmen and transfers) for a semester-long academic and social relationship 

  • Oversee and manage the program to ensure that it brings a constructive impact to the participants

  • Set and meet specific academic and social goals for program participants

  • Use the program as an avenue to promote relation-building and raise awareness of RISA to a larger audience

  • Report to Chief Executive Officer with periodic updates

  • Report to VP of Internal Audit with periodic progress

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to understand the mission and vision of RISA

  • Must be transparent, honest, and organized in all the work and communication

  • Must be capable of managing a large group 

  • Previous or current involvement in a mentorship program (on or off-campus) is a plus

  • Leadership experience is a big plus

  • Outstanding professionalism

  • Attention to detail

  • Outgoing personality

  • Excellent presentation skills
